This weekend was fairly significant to me. After years of trying to decide what i wanted, i finally got my first tattoo.

For a while i have liked the very simplistic style of fine line tattoos. I knew i wanted something that would in a way symbolise my youth and thought some form of wild flowers would be nice. Once i had decided on what i wanted, i just needed to figure out where i wanted it. For a while i thought i wanted it on my wrist, yet for some reason i had a gut feeling that one day i may get irritated/regret having it there. When i thought about having it on the side of my ribs/under my boob i knew that that was the right place for me.

Before christmas my sister and I agreed that we would go and get our first tattoos done together. We hadn't really planned exactly when we would go but knew it was something we wanted to do as sisters. Last week i had come to the mind set that i just wanted to get my tattoo done. I went into a parlour and booked in for Saturday the 28th at 10am. My sister agreed to come with me and was tempted to get hers done too.

In the end we both got them done and i am so happy with the result and the experience. At the moment i am completely content with my new tattoo and do not really feel like i want to add anymore to my body but i would never say never.

If you are curious about getting a tattoo and want to know more in detail information please feel free to comment or get in touch with me.

I think there are many aspects that are important to blogging but one i think that goes above most is a great visual image. Key to this i think are flat lays. Flat lays pretty much rule the world of Instagram now days and it is something that i have been practicing at. What i do for work is very visual so without sounding to conceited i feel i have quite a good eye for what works visually.
Recently i have been apply this to flat lays. One of the reasons why i think they are so great is because there a good source of inspiration. Hence forth why they are so popular.

This is why i have decided to do a weekly flat lay post on my blog. It could end up being just monthly  but we'll see how it goes/how much time i get to create them.

So here you have Flat Lay 01. Theme: Pink & Black.

I hope you are all having a nice and relaxing Sunday. I am currently sat with a nice hot cup of peppermint tea and listening to Alabama Shakes.

This weekends outfit has been one i have been wearing to death recently. I love when i find an outfit that is casual but i don't look scruffy and stylish but without looking like i have made too much effort.  The key item in this outfit is the coat. Well i say coat but it is actually more of a thick cardigan. Like a moth is drawn to a flame, i am drawn to leopard print. I noticed this in Zara a few months back and had my eye on it, so when i went in store when their christmas sale was on and saw they still had it i was a very happy lady. Obviously i love the fur collar but i also love how the sleeves are 3/4 length and quite wide.
I have mostly been throwing it over my black skinny Levis, a baggy v neck grey jumper from John Lewis and bringing the look together with my black patent point shoes.

I am sorry to say that 90% of this outfit are items i brought it the recent sales so i haven't been able to find links to them.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

The other day i was watching Youtuber Lucy Moon's recent video called Soundtrack to my life. Apparently it is a tag on Youtube and i thought considering i make a lot of playlists it would be cool to do for my blog.

Lets start!

Warning: I found it impossible to pick just one song per question so this is going to be slightly long.

1. What song do you listen to when you are sad?

My first song is Fade Into You by Mazzy Star. I love her as an artist and find her music just beautiful and touching. There is something about this song in particular that is heartbreakingly romantic.
Secondly, The Shining by Badly Drawn Boy. I used to listen to this song a lot when i was in my teens and was going through a hard time. I still find myself putting it on when I'm feeling low and just want to be alone.
Next, Svefn-g-englar by Sigar Ros. I pretty much listen to most Sigar Ros albums when i am feeling sad but i just love this track. I have actually had the pleasure of seeing Sigur Ros live and can say it was such an experience.
Lastly, Still by Bombay Bicycle Club. This one is great for getting the tears out.

2. What song do you listen to when you are happy?

One that i absolutely love singing/talking along to is Parklife by Blur. I just cannot help but laugh my way through this song.
Next, Sloop John B by The Beach Boys. This is one of my top three Beach Boys songs and it always puts a smile on my face.
Thirdly, Too Hot To Stop by The Bar-Kays. I am a massive fan of funk but this song in particular puts me in such a good/fun mood. If you have seen Superbad then you might know that it is the track they play at the beginning with Jonah Hill and Michael Cera dancing to it.
Lastly, Tutti Futti by New Order. Music Complete was one of my favourite albums to have been realised last year. This is such a perfect all round happy song that can be played in a club, bar, house party or just jamming alone to it in your room.

3. Song to be played at your wedding?

Firstly let me say there are four songs because clearly i have never thought about this before (heavy sarcasm).
Starting off with When U Love Somebody by Fruit Bats.
Secondly, Festival by Sigur Ros. Take note that around 4.40 of the track is when i would like to start walking down the aisle.
Thirdly, the first dance song being Just Like Heaven by The Cure.
Lastly, one of my favourite songs God Only Knows by The Beach Boys. Just because every word is beautiful.

4. Song you dance around your house to?

Believe it or not, i dance around my flat by myself a lot.
Da Doo Ron Ron by The Crystals. I mean how can you not?
Pulp Fiction is up there as one of my favourite films, so if i ever play You Never Can Tell by Chuck Berry i just have to recreate the famous dance scene.
Again, Dirty Dancing is one of my favourite films and Do You Love Me by The Contours is great to shake your tail feather to.
Lastly, one that might not be that widely known Jaan Pehechan Ho by MohammedRafi. I came across this song whilst watching Ghost Town, but the track originally comes from the film Gumnaan.

5. Song you currently listen to on your headphones whilst out?

I usually listen to the most recent playlist i have made whilst i am out. So a few tracks i am currently listen to are, Talk to Me by Run The Jewels, Here Comes My Baby by Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Heroes And Villains by The Beach Boys.

6. Song you listen to when angry?

When i am seriously pissed it has to be Killing In The Name by Rage The Machine.
When i have a bad attitude it is I Feel Love (Every Million Miles) by The Dead Weather.
When i want to reek havoc Blue Orchid by The White Stripes.

7.  Song you loose your shit to when it comes on at a party?

Easy. California Love by 2Pac, Heart of Glass by Blondie and I See You Baby (Fat Boy Slim) by Groove Armada and Gram'ma Funk. Just fucking good songs.

8. Song you want to see live?

I have wanted to see Radiohead live for so long so defiantly my favourite song of theirs Karma Police.  Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones would be amazing. Lastly, Fools Gold by The Stone Roses.

9. Song you would sing at karaoke?

My go to gal would have to be Nancy Sinatra. So either These Boots Are Made For Walkin' or Sugar Town.

10. Song you listen to at the gym?

Songs that get me pumped and have a good beat to work out to are 212 (ft. Lazy Jay) by Azalea Banks, Don't Call Me Baby by Madison Avenue and Gold Dust by DJ Fresh.

11. Song that has the most memories?

There are just so many!! Firstly, Empire Ants (ft. Little Dragon) by Gorillaz because Tom (my boyfriend) always used to play it around the time when i was falling in love with him (Aww soppy).
re:stacks by Bon Iver just was my early teenage years. Hysteric by Yeah Yeah Yeahs my favourite track off of the first album i ever brought with my own money. Taper Jean Girl by Kings of Leon captures so many times i used to drive around with friends and my sister.

12. Song that makes you cry?

Landslide by Fleetwood Mac. Literally cannot listen to it without balling my eyes out.

13. Guilty pleasure song?

Anything Wham! but my favourites in particular are Club Tropicana and Freedom. Daddy Cool by Boney M because it makes me feel cool just listening to it. Lastly, Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) by Billy Joel, i don't know why i just love it.

14. Favourite song from a musical?

Now i don't really do musicals but i do love the film Grease, so it has to be Grease by Frankie Valli.

15. Song you hate?

I could not stand this song when it came out and was really popular, which was a really unpopular opinion to have. Sorry to say if you are a fan of his but i cannot stand Ed Sheeran particularly his song The A Team.  If it comes on anywhere i literally cringe and want to rip off my ears.

16. Favourite song?

Again, way to hard to choose just one. So i will give you some of my top ones.

Sadly Purple Rain by Prince is not on Spotify so i have substituted it with his song Stare but Purple Rain is one i love and i was really really sad when he died.
The Ballad of John and Yoko by The Beatles.
Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones.
England by The National.
Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks.

And that is it! There you have the soundtrack to my life.

I would love to know your answer to any of the questions so please feel free to comment or tweet me.

Sunday, 8 January 2017

I hope you are all having a nice relaxing Sunday. Unfortunately i have come down with a cold but at least it have given me an excuse to lay on the sofa, drink my weight in orange juice and tea, and generally get to moan about all the reasons why being ill sucks.

I thought it would be good to start a top five series for the blog. Each month i will write about five things that i have loved. Basically a monthly favourites except i have given it a different name.

Firstly i will start with my favourite item i received in December. This watch was a christmas present from my boyfriend Tom and i adore it. I had been without a watch for quite a few months as my last one broke just before the summer. At the end of November I actually went into the store with Tom and picked out this watch myself. Generally i have quite a simplistic taste in watches. I like a black leather strap, gold frame and not an overly big face.

I found this book absolutely fascinating and a pleasure to read. As a person who's favourite seasons are Autumn and Winter, is a fanatic of Christmas and loves all things cosy, it was no surprise that i was going to like this book. I had heard a few things about Hygge but it wasn't until i read an article about it on the vogue website that i really wanted to know more. Meik Wiking writes about it so beautifully and explains that Hygge is not just a new craze but an existing lifestyle that goes back years and years in Denmark. He writes about how Hygge and happiness intertwine and gives tips and general advice on how to make your life more Hyggelig. Defiantly a well worth read.

I currently have bleached blonde hair, use silver shampoo and most days use a hair straighter. From this i guess you can tell that my hair needs a lot of TLC. This has been an absolute god send! I spray it all over my hair after i have washed and towel dried it, leave it for 5-10 minutes and then dry and brush my hair. I have to say that it leaves my hair feeling softer and healthier than no other oil/heat protective spray i have used before.

For christmas i brought Tom a record player. He already owned a fair few vinyl records but i brought him this one to go alongside his main present. I had a feeling he would like it because we both loved the film and every other film Wes Anderson has made. Afterwards i realised i had done that thing of buying someone a gift that you secretly want yourself. I really like putting this on in the morning and pottering about in my flat.

I have been using this BB cream for quite a few months now. In 2016 i decided that i no longer wanted to use a heavy foundation in my everyday make-up routine, that is when i switched to BB creams. I generally have quite good skin so i have never really needed to use heavy coverage. Once i discovered the Lancome Hydra Zen BB cream i haven't felt the need to try others. It evens my complexion and leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished for the rest of the day.

I have put links to all the items in the titles if you are interested in any of these products. Please feel free to let me know if you currently use any of them and what your opinions are.

Like most people i have started the year with some promises to myself. One of them being to properly commit to blogging. I won't lie, it is something i have found difficult in the past. Life can get in the way sometimes but i am going to try my hardest to keep at this because at the end of the day i enjoy it.

So to start off this year i have a playlist for you. Now i know i do a lot of playlists but in future posts i will try to focus more on fashion and other content. It would be a help if you could let me know if you would like a playlist monthly or weekly, that way i can i can get an idea of how regularly you  would like them.

Lets get down to the nitty gritty! This playlist consists of a lot of new releases which i throughly enjoyed discovering and listening to. Whilst i was making it i kept on picturing what would come from 2017 and how i would like the year to reflect in my playlist. There is a little something for every mood so i hope you enjoy. I added a Pete Tong track at the end because today i got tickets to go see him live in December so i am beyond excited for that!
